In medium to windy conditions the Australian Laser Championships followed by the Australian Youth Championships were held at the RQYS. There were plenty of waves for surfing and great racing conditions. The race committee were out in force with more Rule 42 infringements which were more common across the Youths Nationals than the Lasers Nationals.
All results for all classes for both regatta’s are available at http://rqys.com.au

Sail Sydney was held in two parts. The Olympic classes ran pre Sail Melbourne while the remaining classes are running over Dec 16-18. The regatta appears to have turned out to be another Youth Regatta with only the Contenders, Moths and A Class able to put together a fleet (if you class 6 boats a fleet). Again the regatta is at Georges River SC who now have a fabulous cafe downstairs which would not be out of place in South Yarra or Bondi…..except it is at a yacht club and its really hard to take a full breakfast out with you sailing. Hence you still need to buy your sailing supplies elsewhere. May’be add some good to go guys? Popular with the Opti parents though. Racing has been very competitive across all classes with the Opti’s having 33 boats in Open Fleet and the Laser 4.7”s 23 boats and 29ers also a 20 plus fleet. Many of the competitors are using the regatta as a warm up for upcoming nationals in a few weeks time. Full results at http://sailsydney.org,au
