Tuesday saw a full days racing with all classes including the Optimists out for battle in 10-12 knot winds. The breeze remained patchy however was a big improvement on Monday. Tom Burton continued on his winning ways in the Laser with Tom Slingsby regaining his Mojo to get back on the leaderboard. Ben Ainslie was at the top of the Finn fleet but not enough at the end to stop Zach Railey who was too consistent. In the Laser 4,7’S Madison Kennedy had a very consistent day to keep ahead on points. Sailing Shack’s Ben Hartnett sailed well to move into third overall. In the Optimists Kye Evans from Queensland had a blinder of a day and is leading the results after three races. See http://www.sailmelbourne.com.au for full results and news.
Today Wednesday everyone showed up with the heavy weather experts into their wetsuits early. However it was not to be as the rain squalls came in and a gale force warning was issued for the bay. This led to abandonment for the day and now means additional races each day for each fleet starting Thursday.
