The Davey’s Bay Yacht Club turned it on again with another successful Lidgett Cup Junior Regatta. The first day started out with a strong northerly breeze which is the absolute worst conditions for the Northerly facing DBYC. While the kids and racing dinghies remained safely onshore the same could not be said of the RIB’s. Several coach boats were damaged as they broke loose or slammed the jetty in the rough conditions. I decided to take our RIB back to a marina and on the way came as close as I would like to doing a free style motocross like trick as I launched off a wave. However the breeze settled in the afternoon allowing the advanced Opti, Sabot and Minnow fleets to get a few races in. The Sunday event day was much better with fantastic conditions which allowed everyone to get out on the water. The Sailing Shack team were represented by Ben Hartnett in the Opti Open Fleet and Finn Hartnett in the Opti Green Fleet. Ben finished 8th overall from 19 starters and Finn finished 3rd Opti and 5th overall in the combined Minnow/Opt fleet. Full results can be found at http://www.daveysbay.org.au.
