The 2008 Sydney International Regatta has just been completed and some outstanding results from Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club Members. Will and Sam Phillips had the 49er on the gas and claimed 4th overall in their first series sailing together. We saw the boys practicing recently and their teamwork was fantastic. First in the Laser 4.7’s was Stephen Collings son of Glen Collings the Yachting Victoria Coach and Vanessa Collings legendary Tasar crew and brother of Minnow and Optimist champion Lloyd. This is a great result for Stephen and follows his top three result in the Laser 4.7 Australian Championships in January. Thomas Vincent came in second which is a great result also given that he only stepped out of the Minnow in March this year. Ex Laser sailor Warwick Hill finished a solid second in the Finn which will be a confidence booster heading into Sail Melbourne. While on the subject of performance sailing check out this almost flawless gybe in a 29er above.
