TP's Rule

Here at Sailing Shack we love sailboat racing especially high performance sailing. I asked Ben what were some his favourite boats. He told me he likes, 49ers, Tornado’s and also the TP52’s. The TP52’s are the Formula 1 boats of the yachting world. The racing is super close, the boats are amazing and the crews rockstars and incredibly well drilled. Check out the video above of a gybe and downwind blast on the 2008 Club Med Winner Quantum Racing helmed by one design helmsman Terry Hutchinson. A couple of months ago we had the privilidge of being invited onboard Bob Steele’s TP52 Quest in Sydney. Seeing these boats sail is one thing, standing at the helm is another thing.

My goodness!! Does that boat have a sneaky jet propeller underneath it by any chance! Wow what a well drilled crew! Off to the well known sailor spot and home town Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, England in December (well known for its Burnham regatta’s) to see my family and sailing boat racing buddies – hmmm.. I may have to get into this sailing lark too! Looks like a bit of an adrenaline rush and fitness workout! I;m in. great post Rob and Ben! Keep em coming – ok, I’m in AND on the way to becoming a sailing legend, or am I?? 🙂

Wow that Oz sun does look lovely, nothing like sailing in weather like that. Perhaps you could send some down to good old burnham-on-crouch in England for our sailing week, hopefully then our boats will be able to go faster!!
