The 2008 Bethwaite Regatta was held at MCrae YC in Victoria over the weekend of 15/16 November. There was a large contingent of Tasars, 29ers and B14’s but sadly no 49ers.
The conditions were medium south west winds in the morning and increasing to 20-25 knots in the afternoon and similar conditions Sunday. The racing was on short courses and very tight. The south west winds brought some great surfing conditions and many crews got to hone their downwind skills.
Some new Tasars hit the water for the first time including Michael and Kim Paynters new boat “Purple Patch”. Ben and I sailed the first two heats with a couple of good results considering we are a bit on the light side. The other news is that Ben has now decided to call me Gordon Ramsay after my outburst at him at one mark rounding (sorry Ben…all in the heat of the moment!)
The next Bethwaite Regatta is being held in Sydney on the weekend of 22/23 November.
